Dementia

 

The man has dementia.

 

He is wearing

wrong-sized

hospital pyjamas

In a bed

That is tilted

Head-down, feet-up

to stop him getting out;

to somehow protect him

from himself.

 

This,

of course,

Restraint

and, against everything that is good and right

and perhaps

preventing him from falling,

but,

Doing him far more harm

by robbing him

of his self

and his autonomy.
