now

And, it is interesting

for,

I had

Accepted

The passage

Of Youth.

/

The

ageing

Body

Is not able

To accomplish the feats

Of

Yesterday;

/

I used to spring

Across

Roads, (in Giffnock)

Up stairs

And

Wherever.

/

Now I

Move with

purpose,

So as not to fall over.

/

That, I’d accepted.

/

Yet,

My mental

Senescence

I had denied.

/

An aged mind

Somehow

Worse than the body.

/

And

Now I see it

Now I understand.

/

The past is the past

It is gone

And

I am left

With

now.

Trying to understand the world, one emotion at a time.

  1. Such a lovely word ‘senescence ‘ – for such an unwelcome process, until one adapts to managing the wearing-out by various small means/prompts and interesting challenges !
The blog simply but hauntingly captures the hollowness of perceived, possible loss of useful, effective and even prized talents, leavened by the positive benefits of ‘now’.
